All of our designs are suitable for weddings, handfastings and civil partnerships and I work very closely with the client to create your dream outfit. I like to have your clothing ready for you in plenty of time to help make your day as happy and stress free as possible, so I only ask that you contact me in plenty of time before your big day.

As well as simple classical and historical dresses Victorian Gothic specialises in the unusual, fantastical and flamboyant gown in sizes to fit you. These gowns are often very hard to source makers for and this is where Victorian Gothic is building up an international name for service, quality and value. I see the joy of creating the perfect gown with each client as part of the overall enjoyment of your special day and look forward to making this a memory to treasure.

How do I go about ordering the gown of my dreams from Victorian Gothic?

Our special Bespoke Wedding Service is as follows:

We are very pleased to design a special unique piece just for you. Send a sketch, pictures any inspiration and we work together from there. This is an organic process, tailored to the individual with our experience to help and guide you towards creating your dream outfit. Alternatively take a look at what we already offer and mix, match and alter different elements For example, the Whitehall Bodice with the Brunswick Bodice sleeves, matched with a Ducrow skirt in the fabrics and colour of your choice. I think that you get the idea! If you have an idea for an outfit, but can't see anything remotely like it on our website, please just ask. So far the answer has always been 'Yes, we can do that.'

Charges. Please also consult our terms and conditions, though some where appropriate are also included for clarity below.

Design consultation and bodice and skirt/gown mock-up £340.00

This covers ground work usually done via email, bodice and skirt/gown mock-up (bodice mockup in cotton twill and skirt part in polycotton to check shape, fit and suitability) prepared and ready for basic fitting and first appointment to further discuss shape, fabrics and decoration and to take further measurements. If the client would prefer to carry out this entire process via email and post, then the mock-up can be sent to the client for them to check fit and return to us. Postage for this is included for the UK, but will be extra for EU and USA. The client is responsible for paying for the return postage to us. This also includes the cost of drafting your unique pattern. ALL patterns and mock ups remain the property of Victorian Gothic. You are paying for the drafting time and experience. If a mock up is sent outside of the EU then upon it's arrival back to the UK import taxes and/or duty plus a handling fee may be added to it which must be paid before the item is delivered back to us. This must be paid by the client as the fee can be quite high and impact greatly on our costs. What if I decide to cancel during this process?

The amount breaks down in to:

Pattern Drafting £80

Bodice and skirt/gown mock up £220.00

1st fitting by post/email or in person £40

You will have a one week 'cooling off' period during which no work will be carried out by us and a full refund of monies will be given. The amount of refund then depends on how far in we are in the process.

Further charges are calculated by:

Total cost of fabrics chosen.

Cost of notions such as sewing threads, fastenings, boning etc

Cost of any trims or decoration.

Labour charges. Typically a bodice starts at £240 and a skirt at £150 as a guide only.

In some cases a small charge is required to cover the cost of very high end fabric samples which is a charge passed on from our supplier and this must be paid before we can send out the samplels to you.

Appointments are charged at £40 per fitting up to 3hrs and there after £80 for up to 6 hours. Measurements and fittings which take place away from our base in Sussex cost £120 per day based on an 8 hour day plus full travel costs. This is only available within the UK and subject to booking. Full payment for each fitting/visit is payable in advance.

ALL charges will be fully broken down and agreed between Victorian Gothic and the client before any work is started or materials bought. If extra work is required after this agreement such as more trimming or covered buttons rather than plain ones then of course Victorian Gothic reserves the right to charge for the extra labour and materials costs.

Payment details will then be mailed to you. We will start work at the time agreed.
