The following terms and conditions must be read and understood before finalising your order. Placing an order with us is confirmation from you that you accept our terms and are willing to abide by them.
Payment
Orders require no less than a 50% deposit before any work can be started. We will not start your garment until 50% of the total price of a Ready to Wear or Made to Measure order has been paid or in the case of Bespoke we ask for full cost of materials plus half of the make up costs. This will be used to purchase materials and compensate for work done. You have a seven day cancellation period during which your deposit will be refunded. Once this 7 day period has ended then the deposit becomes non-refundable and the garment or garments and all materials bought for the project remain the property of Victorian Gothic. The order must be paid in full before any garment will be shipped. Failure to complete FULL payment will result in no previous monies returned and the garment/s become the sole property of Victorian Gothic to dispose of as they see fit. In some cases a small charge is required to cover the cost of very high end fabric samples which is a charge passed on from our supplier and this must be paid before we can send out the samplels to you. Appointments are charged at £40 per fitting up to 3hrs and there after £80 for up to 6 hours. Measurements and fittings which take place away from our base in Sussex cost £120 per day based on an 8 hour day plus full travel costs. This is only available within the UK and subject to booking. Full payment for each fitting/visit is payable in advance.
Methods of Payment
By Bank Transfer or by Personal Cheque which must be cleared before any work is started on the order.Details of where to send your payment will be sent to you when finalising your order. Paypal is also accepted but a charge of 3.4% will be added to the total (including shipping) of your order to cover Paypal fees on all Made to Measure and Bespoke orders. Paypal fees will not be charged on our Ready to Wear items as the fees have already been factored in to our pricing structure. We do not accept international money orders as these can cause problems.
Shipping
Victorian Gothic ships internationally, though reserves the right to decline an order due to the shipping destination. ALL orders are shipped fully tracked from door to door and fully insured. We do not charge for packing materials except where stated. Shipping rates are calculated individually depending on the weight of the order, value of the goods (for insurance purposes) and where it is going. In the UK we use Royal Mail Special Delivery Royal Mail Special Delivery and overseas we use Airsure Airsure Details, Global Espress Global Express Detailsor Global Priority Global Priority Details. This is the safest way to ship and we will not consider any cheaper (and in our opinion less safe for our creations) options. We insist on being able to fully track our items online for security and peace of mind. We will however on an individual basis be happy to arrange (at cost) for faster shipping if required by the client. Though we can not be liable for any problems or lost monies resulting from late delivery by the postal system. All shipping charges are payable by the client and this includes any brokerage, duty or taxes which the order may incur on arrival. If a mock up is sent outside of the EU then upon it's arrival back to the UK import taxes and/or duty plus a handling fee may be added to it which must be paid before the item is delivered back to us. This must be paid by the client as the fee can be quite high and impact greatly on our costs. Failure to pay this will result in us witholding your items or stopping work as appropriate. This can be added to your oustanding balance of your order total or be made as a one off payment Please click here for full details of customs liability further details can be obtained direct from HM Revenue and Customs at Goods posted outside of the EU: tax payments, queries or refunds
Delivery Times
Most UK deliveries will be made within two business days of posting. European and International shipping can take between 7-14 days after postage (this is for guidance only and dependent on location) In all cases the client will be notified of our intention to send out the parcel to ensure that you will be available within the time limits of the postal system to receive your parcel. You will be provided with a tracking number and a link to the Royal Mail/Parcel Force Tracking Page so that you can keep track of your parcel. Victorian Gothic will keep hold of the postal receipt as proof of posting and incase an insurance claim needs to be made. In the event of an article being lost in the post Victorian Gothic will make a claim to the Royal Mail/Parcel Force. Victorian Gothic is not liable for any article, monies or such arising from the loss of an article once the order has been posted or a claim for non-delivery made. Please note: A parcel not being picked up from a local post office/collection point by the client and is subsequently returned to us forfeits any right to claim for a refund of postage (as the fault will not be the postal system or Victorian Gothic). Victorian Gothic will not re-send the item until another shipping fee has been paid to send the item.Victorian Gothic will fully cooperate with the client and Royal Mail/Parcel Force in the event of a claim being made to the Royal Mail/Parcel Force for loss/non-delivery of an item. Refund monies will be awarded to our client (less shipping which is not covered by Royal Mail Insurance) ONLY and IF the Royal Mail/Parcel Force has awarded the compensation. Victorian Gothic accepts and abides by the terms of Royal Mail/Parcel Force and by accepting our terms and conditions you accept these too. Please check with Royal Mail/Parcel Force if there are any conditions that you wish to query before accepting these shipping methods. If the client still would like the garment/s then they will have to start the order process again with payment as before. Lead times will vary depending on other commisons that we are working on at the time and we will not be able to quarantee that an order will be ready in time for a special occasion.
Ordering
A minimum of 8 weeks from acceptance of the order and payment not including shipping time which will vary depending on destination country must be allowed for each garment. In the case where a mock-up is required then time for making the mock-up and shipping it back and forth or the client having a fitting must also be added to this. If ordering from outside of the EU then time for release from customs (and possible payment of customs taxes and handling fees by you) must also be factored in.
Lead times (making up of garments) may vary and the client will be advised of this before finalising their order. You must specify a date for very special occassions such as a wedding, ball or prom so that Victorian Gothic can ensure that they have enough time to make up and get the garment to you in plenty of time.We MUST have your measurements and agreed payment by the date specified and agreed between both Victorian Gothic and you the client. Failure to provide final measurements and agreed payment by the date specified may result in the loss of that sewing slot and your garment/s will have to be allocated to another time as Victorian Gothic is booked up months and sometimes years ahead so we can not guarantee that we will have the sewing time to fit you in, in time for your event. We do value your custom and want your occasion to be special too. Sometimes we can fit a client in at short notice, so do email us for advice and availability. An extra charge may be applied to rush orders, but this will be advised at time of enquiry.
Every garment including Ready to Wear is hand made on commission for you, the client, to your measurements and instructions as agreed with you and Victorian Gothic. It is the clients responsibility to give accurate measurements according to Victorian Gothics instructions. In the case of Ready to Wear it is the clients resposibility to chose the correct size. The wrong size ordered in our Ready to Wear option will not be accepted as a defect and you are responsible for chosing the correct size based on our sizing policy/chart for Ready to Wear.We insist on a bodice mock-up when ordering Bespoke as this is part of the process. We will not be held responsible for badly taken measurements. Victorian Gothic with holds the right to refuse an order without explanation, but don't worry we have not had to yet!
Our terms and conditions must be read and understood before finalising your order. Placing an order with us is confirmation from you that you accept our terms and are willing to abide by them.
