The Serpentine Polonaise
The definition of a polonaise is a coat-gown with the fronts of the skirts pulled back over an underskirt. What appears to be an overskirt is indeed attached to the bodice part of this gown. Named after the Serpentine, a recreational lake in Hyde Park London which was created in 1730 and has ever since been a favourite leisure area for Londoners and visitors. The Serpentine Polonaise
Has a fitted bodice, cut with a flattering square neck. The skirt of the polonaise is swept back with two points at the front, pleating to the sides and bustled at the back. The polonaise is lined with contrasting polycotton, interlined in the bodice part with cotton twill and boned at the darts and seams. Fastens with 10 faux jet buttons (please note that design of buttons may vary, but will be in keeping with the garment) Trimmed with faux fur. A very versatile piece that can be worn over pieces already owned and also if ordered a size larger as a coat/jacket. This polonaise can be worn over a bustle.
